This unique piece was initially thrown on the wheel as a closed form! The head was then meticulously carved and cut so it perfectly doubled as the lid. To bring the character to life, the ears, the leaf, and the feet were all carefully added on.  Plus, there’s a special little cutout on the belly\u2014if you choose to place a candle inside, it lets the warm light beautifully glow through!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was a little accident during the forming process that broke one of the ears. I had to make the other one smaller to match. After forming, the piece was beautifully hand-painted with underglaze, making sure to capture every detail\u2014even the underside of the leaf! It was incredibly fun experimenting with the fit of the lid. It’s cleverly crafted so that it intuitively guides you, meaning you\u2019ll always know the exact way to place it on.<\/p>\n\n\n
