I was quite happy that my dragon plate was picked up during the spring sales. The make of the plate and the drawing was fun, capturing the vibrant colors and intricate details that resonate, but not quite the same, with the essence of traditional Asian artistry. I was inspired by this success and felt a compelling urge to create more pieces while also experimenting with modifying my style to bring a fresh perspective to this timeless subject.
Dragons have been my most favorite magical beings rooted in my Asian cultural heritage, representing strength, wisdom, and good fortune. So much so that in university, I ran an ‘Art of the Dragon’ art print exhibition on campus, which celebrated these magnificent creatures and drew significant interest from both students and faculty. This time, I am not only going to create more dragon designs but also explore the application of the theme on various functional ware, including plates that serve not just as art but as daily use items. This is dragon plate part 2, and I am excited to include mugs and bowls in my collection, each crafted with the same care and creativity.
More designs will be coming soon, as I delve deeper into this captivating project, aiming to share these pieces with those who appreciate the beauty of dragons in everyday life.
