I envisioned this vase as an abstract dusk—a captured moment of a sun dipping behind a hazy horizon. To find that feeling, I moved away from machines and returned to the rhythm of my own hands.
The Beauty of Imperfection
The decoration was a physical dance. I manually spun the vase while using a handheld atomizer to layer the glaze. Unlike a machine-sprayed finish, the manual atomizer doesn’t create a perfectly smooth layer. Instead, it leaves behind a textured, stippled spray. I leaned into these imperfections; they give the piece an authentic, gritty mood.
