I spent hours with these pieces. The rhythm of the carving become a form of meditation. There’s something so peaceful about the way the forest-green glaze eventually settles into those grooves like moss over stone. I love how they turn out.

RX 78 is still my favorite
There is only so much surface on a 4 inch mug that you can use for a mecha carving project design. Luckily RX78 is so iconic I am sure fans will recognise it even with half the face. Google Lens did. So I am pretty happy. (update) Final firing.
Art in the Window: A Sneak Peek at the Richmond Potters Club Spring Sale
I’m thrilled to share that two of my recent pieces are currently on exhibition alongside a fantastic collection of works from my fellow local artists! These pieces represent some of my favorite explorations in form and surface design lately, and they’re serving as a little “appetizer” for what’s coming up at our big annual event….
My Experience with Underglaze on Bisque vs Greenware
Well , why not? The plate was bisque fired already. I am reading contradicting advises on internet about whether underglaze shall be applied on green ware or bisque ware. The application experience is definitely different. I had done both and honestly on a plate I dont see any problem or difference. I usually use speedball…
Cartoon animal mugs
This time I want to put my own cartoonic characters on a mug. I am never sure cat, mouse and dog hate each other or not? I think they are overly stereotyped on TV shows that I grew up watching. Now on internet there are so many videos of them being friends with each other….
Red Frame mug

Gnome needs a home
And he found one.
Black Dragon Plate
Exploring a minimalist dragon-silhouette design on a plate. A plate works well as a canvas because it’s much easier to manage. I also tried another dragon style that’s completely different, and I’ll post it soon.
Castle in the Sky
I’ve been experimenting with new surfaces for my ceramics, and I realize that a vase is a excellent canvas. The height gives me more space to capture detailed subjects, like the magnificent robot from Laputa: Castle in the Sky. For this piece, I decided to try painting the robot along with the golden Laputa emblem…
Mazinger Z
Mazinger Z is another childhood memory I have. I barely remember any plot or the pilot but the robot and the weapons of Mazinger Z have been imprinted in my little mind. I remember pretending my arms amd fists can fly and hit bad guys. LOL
